Brand Clarity: Three things to know for your brand’s online presence

Make sure you’re clear on these three critical pieces of information about your photography or design brand

Each time I visit the social media profiles or website of a business, photographer or designer, there are three things I always want to know first: who you are, what you do, and where you do it! 

These three things are critical pieces of information for your brand clarity. In order to understand your business and brand, potential clients, customers, vendors, and anyone else who may be visiting your online presence need to know exactly how you might serve them! If they cannot find that information from you, they’ll find another business to meet their needs. 

Clarify your brand for customers and clients

First things first, if you aren’t clear on these three items, spend some time defining them for yourself. Defining who you are could be as simple as writing your name. It could be describing your team or partnership. Defining what you do should include both the services or products you offer AND to whom you offer those services or products. 

Here’s an example: 

We’re Becky and Kaleb with Studio Ostendo, husband and wife wedding photographers who photograph weddings and engagements for couples in Chicago and Boise. 

Maybe this sounds simple, and for some, it is! But these three pieces of information are critical for marketing your brand and business.

Whether you’re a photographer, designer, or small business owner, this simple action item is imperative to helping clients and customers understand your business quickly when they find you online. 

If you’re just starting out, spend a few minutes defining who you are, what you do (and for whom), and where you do it. If you’re already clear on those things, take a minute and do an audit for the online presence of your business:

Look anywhere you have an online presence for your business (Website, Blog, Instagram, Facebook, Google, Pinterest, etc.) and ask yourself, If someone new looked at this page for the first time, would they know who I am, what I do, and where I’m located
